The owners of Equilibrio, James and Gabriela, are exemplary hosts – warm, open and generous – they really contributed to the retreat experience, and I admire how they respect the natural environment and contribute to the local community in which they live. If you want to get-away for a unique travel experience, a relaxing vacation, and feel like you are right at home with family-like hosts. Equilibrio is the place to go. James and Gabriela have built a one-of-a-kind retreat, with detailed luxuries, and an amazing personality that flows through them and their hide-away in a beautiful corner of Nicaragua. This unique and off the beaten trail location offers the opportunity for adventure, new experiences, and exploration, but also the safety and security of a well-run resort.

I can’t recommend this place enough. Equilibrio was the highlight of a wonderful holiday. The casita I stayed in (and all the casitas) were like mini homes (and much larger than my flat in London) – a large private garden, rooms filled with light and cooled by the wind, another garden at the back with a hot water shower under the stars. I had yoga every morning with one of the owners, Gabriella (who was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable) either in the forest or a terrace down at the beach, followed by a wholesome breakfast (all the food for incredibly fresh and delicious).

I was there for a part of a yoga retreat and this was my favorite of all the places we stayed!
A little bit off the beaten path, but as I learned in Nica, “anything worth doing takes time to get to”. Being more secluded was part of the great thing about Equilibrio. There are no resorts next door, which make it so peaceful.

Equilibrio can only be compared to Never Never Land – a place where you can go and forget about life’s stresses and responsibilities by chilling out in hammocks, swinging from disco balls, kayaking up the river, taking part in yoga classes and jamming out on the various instruments available in the hangoutotorium.
